Scallop hand decorated dish, 1907
The scene shows leaves and branches and an animal that is resembles puffer fish or ornamental goldfish. The painting itself appears delicate and the animal is shadowy and incorporated in the hint of large yellowy leaves.
Unsure if this was intentional or a result of color age fading.
This is a Laternier hand painted Limoges scalloped plate. The manufacturer's mark is A. Lanternier, Limoges France (A L France with Anchor). (Please note I have seen both spellings of the manufacturer's name and have included both variations here.
This mark was used from 1891-1914.
The plate is artist signed M.N. Hare in gold on back with '07. (or Harn, the last name and date is worn and difficult to read). The 7 in 07 is clearer but the '0 is worn and the out line can be seen at certain angles.
7 inch diameter
Leaves, branches, goldfish or puffer fish design, gold trim.
Condition: Very good. The hand painted picture and gold trim are in very good condition. The back shows scuff, wear and some soiling.
The plate was very dusty and was gently wiped with soft cloth. Could use professional cleaning.
I have included a 'negative" image of the signature for better viewing. More photographs available upon request
